The Myers’ Cocktail

The “Gold Standard” for delivering intravenous vitamins and minerals directly into your bloodstream. Dr. John Myers pioneered this use of intravenous nutrient therapy in the 1960s.

Intravenous (IV) vitamin therapy has grown in favor in recent years for a variety of reasons, including immune system boosts, healthier skin and hair, and weight loss. However, one IV infusion in particular is becoming increasingly popular: the Myers Infusion, commonly known as the Myers’ Cocktail. It is a type of IV micronutrient therapy named for the late Dr. John Myers, who invented it in the 1960s.Dr. Alan Gaby, author of Nutritional Medicine, has recently popularized the Myers’ Cocktail.

What’s In It?

The Myers Cocktail is a vitamin and mineral infusion that contains B vitamins, vitamin C, calcium, and magnesium. Dr. Myers created it to treat the symptoms of chronic medical problems such as asthma, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, and migraine.

Each of the vitamins and minerals in the Myers’ cocktail is essential in its own right. Magnesium and calcium promote normal neuron and muscle function. The vitamin B complex facilitates metabolism and the conversion of food into energy. Vitamin C helps to protect cells from harm.

According to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), seven out of ten Americans do not obtain enough magnesium from their diet. Low magnesium levels have been linked to fibromyalgia symptoms such as muscle cramps, weakness, sleeplessness, and exhaustion. If our magnesium intake is minimal, our bodies will release magnesium from our bones, which are our primary source of magnesium storage in the body. This will decrease calcium from the bones, contributing to osteoporosis. Hypertension and asthma have also been linked to low magnesium levels.

Our Myers Cocktail Drip at Agua Vivir is a blend of hydrating multivitamins designed to sharpen your mental focus, improve your general immune system, and restore balance and harmony to your body.

How Does It Work?

The infusion works by boosting the blood concentration of numerous critical vitamins and minerals over what can be achieved by taking them orally—a notion known as bioavailability.

When nutrients are administered intravenously, the levels of vitamins in the bloodstream are momentarily boosted, directing the nutrients to the mitochondria, where they are active. This momentary increase regularly “kick-starts” the cells, allowing them to create energy more effectively.
